Lauren Rose Crace (born 25 May 1986 in Birmingham, West Midlands, U.K) is a British actress. She plays Danielle Jones in the BBC soap opera, EastEnders.

Early life

Crace went to Swanshurst School in Billesley, Birmingham, and then studied drama up to A'levels at Cadbury Sixth Form College. Her father is Jim Crace, the cult novel writer.[citation needed]

Career

Crace trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. She began her acting career as an extra and has had parts in TV shows and theatre productions including leading roles in Alice in Wonderland (directed by Ruth Harrell) and Sweeney Todd (directed by Tom Bailey). She was a long-standing member of Birmingham's Stage 2 Theatre Company, one of the largest and most successful youth theatres in the UK[1].

In 2008, she joined the cast of the BBC soap opera EastEnders playing Danielle Jones, a love interest for newcomer Callum Monks. She was later revealed to be Ronnie Mitchell's long lost daughter. She first appeared onscreen in August. Lauren said of joining the soap: "I'm thrilled to be joining the cast of EastEnders, it's a great first role and I can't wait to see what is in store for Danielle."[2]

Executive Producer Diederick Santer added: "Lauren is a real find - a lovely, talented, and hugely watchable actress. I'm delighted she's making her professional debut with us, at the start of what I'm sure will be a glittering and accomplished career."[2] Miles Hosken, a former mayor of Telford, welcomed the choice to give Danielle a Telford background. He also said "I think it’s wonderful Telford has been mentioned on national TV".[3].
