Series Overview

In the first series, The Beast Quest, we are introduced to Tom, living in the Errinel region of the Avantia kingdom. The events unfold in the first book when Errinel's nearby water source, the Winding River, was dangerously low and a fire broke out at a barn in Errinel. Tom's uncle, Henry, sent him to the king's palace to ask for help. The evil wizard Malvel has enchanted the Beasts so that they start destroying Avantia instead of protecting it. The king's adviser and wizard, Aduro, sent Tom on a quest to free the beasts.

In the second series, The Golden Armour, Malvel has created new Beasts that cannot be freed. He has also stolen the Golden Armor, meant to be a present for Tom for completing his quest. Malvel has also captured Aduro and is holding him prisoner In the third series, The Dark Realm, the good Beasts have been captured by another set of Beasts created by Malvel. Now, Tom has to set out to free them.

In the fourth series, The Amulet of Avantia, Tom's father returns but Malvel has turned him into a ghost. Tom has to set out on another quest to find the six pieces of the amulet which are guarded by the ghost beasts to save him.

In the fifth series, The Shade Of Death, Tom has to save the kingdom of Gwildor by facing up to the most terrifying Beasts yet.

There are also Beast Quest Specials, or Beast Quest Bumper Editions which do not really fit into the main storyline. However the book Vedra and Krimon The Twin Beasts Of Avantia does fill the gap between the first series and the beginning of The Golden Armour.

Spiros The Ghost Phoenix can't fit between The Golden Armour series and The Dark Realm series because from Trillion, Tom goes straight to the dark realm. This apparent inconsistency may become clear with the publication of the Amulet of Avantia series.

Characters

Tom

Tom is the only son of the legendary Taladon the Swift. Tom has inherited great courage and valour from his father who disappeared mysteriously when he was a baby, leaving him to be brought up by his uncle and aunt.

The king of Avantia invites Tom to embark on a quest to free the kingdom from the evil curses placed upon the beasts that protect it. With his trusted companion, Elenna, Tom travels across Avantia, guided by a magic map. Accompanied by Storm, a jet-black stallion and a faithful wolf named Silver, the two of them face the biggest adventures of their lives. Together they set out to defeat the evil wizard Malvel and free the kingdom.

In this adventure does Tom have what it takes? While there's blood in his veins, he's determined to find out. In each part of a quest Tom may discover more clues that are connected to his father's dissappearence.

Elenna

Elenna is Tom's trusted companion. She is strong and courageous and able to think quickly under pressure. After her parents died in a fire, Elenna was sent to live with her mean-spirited uncle and aunt, where Silver was her only friend. Armed with a bow and a quiver of arrows, Elenna is an expert archer and ably assists Tom on his quest. Most of the unfortunate events in the Beast Quest, for instance being poisoned, may happen to Elenna.

Storm

Storm is Tom's trusty steed on his Beast Quest. He is a jet-black stallion with a white mark shaped like an arrowhead between his eyes. He is brave and fast, and understands exactly what Tom needs him to do. He slows down at the slightest pull on his reins and speeds up the second Tom touches his sides with his heels.

Silver

Silver is Elenna's wolf friend. Having found him injured during a hunting trip, Elenna nursed him back to health and they've been best friends ever since. Silver is as fast as the wind and able to cover large distances easily and quickly. He has an excellent sense of smell and can sniff out danger from afar.
