Trueachievements.com is an Xbox Live achievement-tracking website, based around the original idea of using its own method of scoring, TrueAchievement score, rather than that of Xbox Live's Gamerscore. TrueAchievement score is based on taking the Gamerscore of an achievement and factoring in the difficulty it takes to obtain that achievement.[2] The TrueAchievement score is then displayed on user's pages, along with other pertinent information such as their Gamerscore, the number of achievements they have unlocked, their most recent achievements and played games, and other customizable information. The website has been in development for over a year and features a scanning service which is able to pull achievements and achievement information automatically for the user several times a day. This scanning service comes free with registration.

How Does It Work?

Something here about describing the way it works briefly, entering into quote.

We believe the harder an achievement is to obtain, the more points should be received.

We've decided that an achievement's difficulty can be accurately approximated by using a formula based on how many people have that achievement compared to how many people own the game. We also understand the phrase 'accurately approximated' is a contradiction in terms but are refusing to remove it on the grounds that it sounds impressive.

From there we multiply the original points given to the achievement by our difficulty score and end up with the TrueAchievement score for that, for want of a better word, achievement.

By adding up the TrueAchievement scores for all the achievements you have won, you get your GamerTrueAchievement. Of which you should be terribly proud. Unless it's only 1, in which case you are both a fool and disgrace to your family. We know this as they called the other day and asked to be disassociated from you.

Features

TrueAchievements.com boasts a wide selection of features that both registered and non-registered users can take advantage of.[3] Among them are the following:

  • Achievement tracking, which allows you to keep track of the achievements you have earned, the ones you are attempting to accomplish, and your best achievements displayed for all users to see.
  • A friends list which allows you to keep track of friends, their TrueAchievement score and Gamerscore, as well as an updated feed of your friend's most recently completed achievements and games.
  • Solutions and reviews to almost every achievement, posted by your fellow users with a rating system based around keeping the best solution or review in the spotlight like it deserves.
  • Status updates that you can change to let your friends know what you're up to.
  • Badges awarded on the site for contributions such as posting solutions, commenting on the forums, or adding friends to your friends list.
  • Forums for every game, for individual leaderboards, and for the main topics of the site.
  • A chatroom that allows you to talk to users and coordinate matchmaking in real time.
  • Leaderboards, so you can compare a variety of stats with gamers in a set group, such as regional leaderboards or leaderboards you can create yourself, giving you the ability to manage it or allow public access into the leaderboard.

Development Phases

TrueAchievments.com is little more than a year old, and as such, is still considered to be in the development phase. Regardless, many of the features in development are openly implemented and equally used by all users. Feedback is typically posted in the appropriate forums, which allow for the administrators to almost instantly apply necessary changes and fix reported bugs.

On March 15th, 2009, True Achievements entered Year Two, or the "Gamma" phase of development.[1]
