Nomination

Pyfan (talk · contribs) – Hi, my name is Oli (just some interesting info: I chose my username because I am intrigued by the simplicity of coding in Python). When I nominated myself 2 1/2 months ago I garnered many opposes because of my lack of experience in a wide range of areas needed to become an admin (such as XfD's). I have tried to get more experience in this area, as well as spending hours at a time reading over policy (it's actually quite interesting). I know I will get some people opposing because of my lack of experience in article creation and building but that is not my strong point. I prefer to focus on things like stopping disruption, and just general maintenance. — Oli OR Pyfan! 09:28, 1 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Questions for the candidate

Dear candidate, thank you for offering to serve Wikipedia as an administrator. It is recommended that you answer these optional questions to provide guidance for participants:

1. What administrative work do you intend to take part in?
A: I intend to take part in maintenance work (such as housekeeping) and the deletion of inappropriate articles (in accordance with the numerous deletion policies). — Oli OR Pyfan! 09:44, 1 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
2. What are your best contributions to Wikipedia, and why?
A: My best contributions to wikipedia are vandal related. I feel good removing provocative and disruptive edits like this: Talk:Jews.— Oli OR Pyfan! 09:44, 1 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
3. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or have other users caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
A: Not any worth great notice.— Oli OR Pyfan! 09:44, 1 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Additional questions from Deskana
4. What do you feel has changed since your last Request for Adminship, which was approximately two months ago? What have you addressed the concerns of the users that caused that request to fail?
A: The main concern raised in my last RfA was lack of experience. I now have more than 1000 edits (about 800 more than my last attempt [not that edit count can be solely used to determine a user's admin suitability]), more than 130 edits in the WP space and a lot more knowledge in policy, so I think I have addressed the concerns raised. — Oli OR Pyfan! 09:59, 1 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  1. I continue to admire your dedication, but I think you should have spent more time reviewing other RFA's that have not passed before resubmitting quite so quickly - there's a sense of urgency in running RFA again that I am uncomfortable with. In addition the majority of your edits seem to be vandal fighting / AWB asssisted - I think you need to forget about adminship for some while and focus on enjoying writing Wikipedia. Best. Neutral
  1. Neutral You have got more experience than last time, but I would prefer if you waited a bit longer before another RfA. GT5162 (我的对话页) 10:59, 1 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
