"Both Sides Now" is the twenty-fourth episode and season finale of the fifth season of House. It aired on May 11 2009.

Plot

House and the team are intrigued by Scott (Ashton Holmes), a man whose left brain and right brain operate independently, leaving him with two distinct personalities and no control over some of his actions. As the two sides of Scott’s brain struggle for dominance, his warring personalities make it increasingly difficult for the team to figure out what is causing the unique problem. The team is forced to use some unusual methods to get him to cooperate with their necessary testing. Meanwhile, when House refuses to make an appearance in the clinic, Cuddy takes an unconventional approach to force House to make up the time with a very particular patient (guest star Carl Reiner) while trying to avoid House after they have sex.

Meanwhile, Chase and Cameron decide to put their wedding back on; Chase allowing Cameron to keep her dead husband's semen.

House also goes to the main lobby, announcing to all the people that he slept with Cuddy. Everyone looks shocked and Cuddy confronts House crying saying he's fired. House confronts her again in her office, and she seems confused about what he said. House has a flashback to last night where he thought he told Cuddy he needed her help.

House suddenly faces reality, remembering that he never told Cuddy he was hallucinating, only telling her "to suckle on the bastard child". He realizes she left the door. House recalls that he thought she watched him detox by the toilet, but in fact, he was popping Oxycodone by himself. The sex he thought happened, was just him walking around the house, high on the pills.

House snaps back to reality, with a hallucination of Amber in his ear saying, "You've created the man you wanted yourself to be." And a hallucination of Kutner saying the same thing.

Cuddy takes House to Wilson, who takes him to the Mayfield Psychiatric Hospital. Wilson and House share a silent goodbye, while the wedding of Chase and Cameron starts without House, ending the season.

Music
