The British Science Association (formerly the British Association for the Advancement of Science or the BA) is a learned society which focuses on public engagement in science. To help reach this aim, the British Science Association runs the annual British Science Festival, which has become the largest public showcase for science in the U.K. and attracts a great deal of public and media attention.

Each year the British Science Festival comes to a different city. Last year Liverpool hosted the Festival, next year Birmingham, and this year Guildford, at the University of Surrey. It will run from 5th-10th September 2009 at the University, with visits to science-related local cultural attractions.

There is a packed agenda of hands-on activities, demonstrations and dicussions for schools, students, scientists, the general public, indeed for everyone with an interest in discovering more about science. More details can be seen at [1].
