Eirias High School is situated in Colwyn Bay, in Conwy county borough, North Wales. The school has about 1500 pupils and over 90 teachers and staff. The school’s name is derived from its location, the grounds of Eirias Park which is a Welsh word, loosely translated to burning. Its modern facilities include up-to-date science laboratories, modern computing facilities, and a high-speed school internet network. The current headmaster is Phil McTague, who took over from Clive Hampton in 2006. The school's dress code is a maroon jumper with the Eirias crest (a book with a tree coming out of it) on it, black trousers/skirt, a white shirt and a tie with black, maroon and silver stripes. In the 2008-2009 term four houses were introduced with different tie colours for each; red, green, blue and yellow. The houses are called - Glyndwr Eagles (yellow), Llywelyn Hawks (blue), Madog Kites (red) and Gwynedd Falcons (green). At the same time as the introduction of the houses a new technology and languages block is being built. The new block will be called Z block and will contain 1 room contain nothing.
