Let's

Let's try not to be mean on this page, ok? .

Well, if there are directions how to best remove them, why not give instructions/experiences on how to best give them ? :)

I thought "How to" articles were not allowed.

COMB THEM OUT. with a brush or comb, it helps to stimulate the bruise. really.

Uncited sources

The section on removing love bites contained a large quantity of doubtful and uncited sources, so I have moved it here. If anyone can verify this information, please feel free to move it back to the article page with proper citations.

=== How to Look ``Love-bites usually occur during acts of sex and take anywhere from one to five days to fade entirely, depending on the severity of the 'bite'. Various ways have been suggested for making the love-bite fade faster. This may be desirable in cases where one doesn't want other people to know that he or she has been intimate with another person. Some suggest applying ice immediately after the mark is made to stop it from worsening. It is also suggested, once the bleeding has stopped, to stimulate circulation through numerous means, such as rubbing the area or exposing it to luke-warm water. These methods need to be applied several times in order to have a visible effect. Other methods for curing hickeys include awkward procedures such as the application of peanut butter, mayonnaise, oil, or tomato sauce to the affected area. Human ejaculate or semen is also effective in the removal of the bruises due to its high protein content and skin enriching vitamins. Some of these methods may completely remove the bites in a short time, but one should apply such methods gently so as to not cause further irritation to the area.

A common herbal remedy for love bites is the mountain plant Arnica, found in gel form at natural food stores.

Many violinists are said to have hickeys, due to the irritation caused by the chin rest while playing for prolonged times.

those look nasty

i'm sure it's fun to do that with your lover/sex-buddy, but the picture looks like flesh wounds that need imediate medical attention lol. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 75.38.85.163 (talk) 00:41, 28 December 2006 (UTC). yea it does —Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.147.197.46 (talk) 05:25, 29 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Sirs, Image:Hickey.jpg is too close up to recognize it is the neck, caption or not. And what's that string? A cowboy hat chin strap? Please use a picture with more context. Jidanni (talk) 00:20, 24 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Pretty sure it's a thin silver necklace ;-). Deon555 (talk) 14:04, 11 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The picture needs to be changed by a more suitable one, the current is frightening! Thanks.

Change the picture. It's exaggerated. Tx.

The picture is a huge exaggeration of what the average "love-bite" looks like. This photo can pass as a jungle disease. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.86.241.112 (talk) 02:42, 8 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It would be helpful to desexualize the article

Anyone who really needs to look up hickey probably needs to learn about capillaries more than about the sexual context or slang terms. --Pleasantville (talk) 00:52, 22 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Why?

What is the purpose of this practise? Do some find neck sucking pleasurable? Am I missing something? 24.36.78.185 (talk) 03:44, 18 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Uh, yeah, you are missing quite a bit actually. Most people find kissing/sucking/biting the neck to be highly enjoyable, especially women. In my experience, the neck is perhaps the most arousing non-sexual erogenous zone, with the possible exception of the ears. Kissing the neck is crucial to any decent foreplay (tends to be a good place to start really).--Remurmur (talk) 19:28, 12 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I understand the kissing part, but why suck neck? I don't get it... 24.36.78.185 (talk) 16:30, 22 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
