Air France Flight 447 was a flight from Galeão International Airport in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil to Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris, France that disappeared over the Atlantic Ocean on June 1, 2009. The plane was an Airbus A330-200, with 216 passengers and 12 crew on board. It was expected to land at 1115 CEST on June 1. Contact was lost with the plane at 0600 GMT. The Brazilian Air Force has started a search and rescue operation near the Brazilian island of Fernando de Noronha.[1]
