Unblock requests

Hi there. May I make a request? Given that anyone can edit the encyclopdia, and given also that no-one has to create an account, it can cause procedural difficulties if IP editors make meaningful comments regarding unblock requests posted by blocked users. This is because not all IPs are static - many ISPs allocate dynamic IPs, which means that in these cases it is not possible easiily to re-contact an editor if we need to. And this applies not only to admins, but also to the editor in receipt of the comment. I have seen several instances, not as far as I know involving yourself, in which a blocked editor has attempted to answer an Ip edit and been unable to, which is poor practice in block discussion. it is wholly your choice; be aware that creating account is cost-free and to some extent enhances your anonymity, as your IP address is thereafter only available to checkusers, and only then if there is a specific reason for them to search for it. --Anthony.bradbury"talk" 14:25, 11 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I'll definitely think about it, but one thing keeps me from making an account at this time. I have little free time, and I'm afraid that if I make an account and start getting more involved with Wikipedia, I will want to have more and more involvement in the process, and that would make my already limited time nonexistent, or even tempt me to take up time that should be devoted to other things. As long as I'm just an IP, then most contributors simply ignore or dismiss me, so that I don't have that temptation. I just coast along in the project space, making comments or helping where I can. I would like to thank you, however, for taking the time to stop by and help. 24.99.242.63 (talk) 21:01, 11 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
