Won Kyun was a another great Korean General who was played a major role in the 7 Year War with Japan. He was also a colleague of Yi-Soon-Shin. Unlike Yi-Soon-Shin, he tends to take more direct measures of defeating the Japanese. "In a war, it is to kill or to be killed." is one of his common views of war. Because of his radical views, Yi-Soon-Shin and Won Kyun were rivals throughout the war. He took the position of Supreme Naval Commander by replacing and accusing Yi-Soon-Shin of subordination, who was the first Supreme Naval Commander. Later, he died in the Battle of Chilchonryang. It was said that Won Gyun was Yi Sun Shin's friend during childhood at Hanyang, but thats what happened in a Korean sky drama: Immortal Admiral Yi Sun SHin. Won GYun later began to have enmity for Yi because when the government took Won out of the general job and replaced Yi, he thought that Yi stole his job.
