If you bother to check, you'll see I've been doing this a lot longer than you. Your edit was reverted because you failed to give any evidence or explanation for your claim that a man called William is known as "Bob". Katharineamy (talk) 17:33, 16 July 2009 (UTC)
Is that really the case? I've been a Wikipedian since 2002. How about you? 158.143.166.124 (talk) 17:36, 16 July 2009 (UTC)
Then why are you editing without logging in, from an IP with no edits before this month? I see now that you've changed everything you wrote to "Bill", which makes more sense and so I'll leave it alone. But please note that I do not do test edits. Katharineamy (talk) 17:38, 16 July 2009 (UTC)
I thought I wrote Bill in the first place, so Bob was a typo/mistake. The name issue was discussed at the talk page. I've attended lectures with Bill Blair, so I know he's not called William in daily use any more than Tony Blair is called Anthony. IP addresses change regularly, and I can't do anything about that. I prefer to edit as an anonymous rather than as a registered user, and that is also perfectly alright. There is a strong tradition at this project, or at least used to be, not to discriminate against anonymous users as opposed to those who use an account. 158.143.166.124 (talk) 17:44, 16 July 2009 (UTC)
This is the discussion page for an IP user, identified by the user's IP address. Many IP addresses change periodically, and are often shared by several users. If you are an IP user, you may create an account or log in to avoid future confusion with other IP users. Registering also hides your IP address. |
