It could just be Durham, CT. Sandwiched near Middlefield, Wallingford, and Guilford, Durham is about 30 minutes from both Hartford and New Haven, and with a population of only 6600 it fits with the Stars Hollow small town feel. Also, Durham was incorporated in 1708 and is run by town meeting with two select-people. It has a much more Stars Hollow-esqe feel than Meriden or Wallingford and is much smaller. It's also closer to the central part of the state and is easily accessible to Hartford and New Haven as mentioned. In addition to being close to Haddam which the show references, Durham and Middlefield are also close to the real-life Wadsworth state park and the restored Wadsworth Mansion, where Paris and Rory discussed having the Chilton prom their senior year (2003). Durham is a definite candidate as a Stars Hollow-esque town.

Location in real Connecticut

There is a town that's a few miles north of Southington, is around 8700 people, and has a small downtown: Burlington. I live there. It takes me about 30 minutes to get to Hartford, and about 35-40 minutes to get to New Haven. It's actually due north of both Waterbury and New Haven, although most people go to the movies in Plainville or Simsbury instead of Waterbury.

In the last episode of season 1, the Second Troubadour says "I run a Kinko's in Groton," which is presumably not far away. —Tamfang 07:08, 2 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Another reference to location

On a recent Season 7 episode, "The Great Stink," the mayor of Stars Hollow refers to "our neighbors in Woodbridge," a real-life town about 6 miles northwest of New Haven and about 9 miles southeast of Beacon Falls. Bordering towns -- or neighbors -- of Woodbridge include Bethany, Seymour, Ansonia and Derby. this show roxs!!!! by: Kate!!!!

Delete or revamp

Honestly, this is an excellent example of a bad Wikipedia article. I am a fan of the show, but this rambling, inconsistent, and badly formed article should either be redone or deleted altogether. Reference to Backlot Set?

The set that this article refers to wasn't built for "Gilmore Girls"--it's been a part of the Warner Bros. backlot for decades, at least as far back as Bonnie and Clyde (they rob a bank off the town square). When I visited it as part of the studio tour in 2001 I was told it was called Starry Hollow, though that may be mistaken memory or a guide misspeaking; I assumed the name to be an inside joke. As one of the most famous backlot sets in history, it deserves its own article. It is similar to the Courthouse Square set over at Universal--initially Mockingbird Square for its role in To Kill a Mockingbird, then Courthouse after its star turn in Back to the Future.
