Husnu Al Suood is the sixth child of Mr. Ibrahim Haleem of Hassankaarige, Addu, Meedhoo, Maldives. Born in 1967 in Meedhoo, Suood grew up in Male’ the capital of Maldives, having briefly lived in Meedhoo. As a child, he attended Meedhoo School, English Preparatory and Secondary School in Male. He obtained his law degree from International Islamic University Malaysia with honors. Later he obtained a masters degree from The Queensland University, Australia. While in secondary school, Mr.Suood was involved in various student activities. In 1985, Mr.Suood got elected as the president of the Literary and Cultural Society and in 1986 he was appointed as the head prefect and the school captain. He was also received the best-all-round student award in 1986. While in School he won the inter-school speech contest in 1995. While in University he was involved in debates and mooting. Mr.Suood won the Malaysian national rounds of the Phillip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court competition in 1993 and represented Malaysia in the final rounds of the competition in Washington D.C. beating some of the world’s leading universities. After graduating with honors from University Mr.Suood joined the Attorney General’s Office, Maldives as a state attorney. Mr. Al Suood is married to Nuzha Abdul Bari. They have two daughters, Eman and Raniya.
