Nawab azim ul umra arastu jah the only person outsied the His heighness family on whom the title jah was conferred was the primeminister of a respectable persian family and bright talents.he soon came under the notice of the his heighnss though he displeased the sunni sect to which he belonged at the first by turning shia afterwads when diwan.Nwab azim ul umra arastu jah even in the most trival instance never failed in his respect to the nizam or presumeed to act without first consulting his pleasure.he sought to obtain sanction for every act his public life.

in the battle of kurdla ,which took place on the 11march 1795,being defeated by the marathas ,under daulat raoscindianizam ali khan wa obliged to make a disastrous peace .he was forced to ecde territories including daulatabad yealding an annaul income of 15 lacs.and pledged himself to liquidate dthe whole of the marathas claim ammounting to 3crores rupees.the prime minister was also given in hostage to the marathas and was detained in poona until june 1797 when he succedded in getting thje treaty cancelled.the suddan termination of arastu jah's administration by captivityat the nmaratha court deprived his heighness 's gevernment of the service of an able minister.the situation of the affairs until his return from captivity was very critical.Raja shan rai rayan discharged the duties of minister in presence of heighness Nizam ali khan from the time arastu jah went to poona until his return to hyderabad in july 1797.Nawab arastu jah during his captivity in poona obtained much influence with the marathas so that before his return and reappointemnt as minister which took place in july1797 he obtained the pestoration of the terrotires ceded by the nizam after the battle of kurdla,the abandandonment of claim from chauth on bidar ,recession of the fort of daulatabad and the extension of all the pecuniary claims on the part of the marattha .one of the first act of arastu jah on his return to hyderabad and reinsstatement in the ministery was to induce the nizam to allow prince sikander jah to sign all public document and sandas.
