The Bangor Lumberjacks were an independent minor league baseball team in the Northeast League. They were originally the Adirondack Lumberjacks and were operated out of Glens Falls, New York until the end of the 2002 season. The Adirondack Lumberjacks were one of the more successful teams in the NeL, winning three championships and a Northern League championship (2000).
The Lumberjacks moved to Bangor, Maine to start 2003 and made the playoffs in their second season there. In 2003, the Lumberjacks played in Orono at Mahaney Diamond and in 2004 they played at Bangor's Winkin Sports Complex.
Managed by Kash Beauchamp both seasons.
In 2003 finsihed with a record of 42-49.
In 2004 improved dramatically finishing with a record 56-36 two games behind of first place. They were eliminated in playoffs by eventual champions New Jersey Jackals 3 Games to 1. The Lumberjacks led the league in pitching with a 3.76 ERA. Led by the top two pitchers in the league in ERA Jerry Long (1.97) and JC Huguet (2.00). The team also had one player on the post-season all-star team, outfielder Derry Hammond who led the league in homeruns with 23.
After the season, losing money, the Lumberjacks folded and Bangor was stripped of its membership in the Can-Am League. Most of the teams roster became The Grays, the second traveling team in the Northeast/CanAm League in two years. (The Grays' roster after a certain date became the roster for the expansion Sussex Skyhawks.)
