Gitorious is the name of a web based project host for collaborative open source projects using the Git distributed revision control system[1], as well as the open source server software that it is developed and hosted on.[2] According to the Git User's Survey in 2008, Gitorious is the third most popular web interface for Git, as well as the third most popular public hosting site.[3]

In addition to source code hosting, Gitorious provides projects with wikis, a web interface for merge requests and code reviews, and activity timelines for projects and developers.[4]

Some notable projects that use Gitorious include:
- Qt and related software by Qt Software, such as Qt Jambi, Qt Kinetic, and Qt Creator is developed on the main site.[5][6][7][8][9][10]
- Amarok has completed its migration to Gitorious, the first component of the KDE project to do so.[11][12][13] Phonon[14] and the rest of the KDE project plan to migrate soon afterwards.[15][16][17]
- Sugar and related software by Sugar Labs is developed on a Gitorious deployment run by Open Source Lab.[18][19][20][21][22]
- Canola and various other software is developed on a Gitorious deployment run by OpenBOSSA.[23][24]
- Laconica, a microblogging platform[25][26]
