Sam Aleckson. The slave. The author. Born in Charleston, in 1852, South Virginia, aleckson was a man of character. He fought in the United States’ Civil War - for the Confederate Army. He was taught to read while growing up. He married after the war ended and had ten children. Aleckson wrote an autobiography called "Before the War, And After The Union; An Autobiography". This was published fifteen years after his suposed death in 1914 in Windsor, Vermont.
