Mike Alexander

Mike Alexander (22 June 1977– 5 October 2009[1]) was the bassist of English thrash metal group Evile.

Biography

Mike was born in West Ham, London, England. He died on the 5th of October 2009 in Sweden, after being taken ill during an Evile performance during European Tour in support of their new album.[1]

Evile

In 2000, after Matt Drake and Ben Carter formed a covers band, Mike saw an ad in a local guitar store for a "Metal Bassist". After calling Matt Drake and rehearsing with the group, the band (then including Matt's brother Ol Drake) would ask Mike to join.

In 2004, they would form Evile. They would record an EP All Hallows Eve in 2004 and a demo Hell Demo in 2006. Soon after, the band would sign to Earache Records, and release their Flemming Rasmussen produced debut, Enter the Grave worldwide.

Mike performed with BC Rich basses. He additionaly endorsed Hartke Amplifiers and cabinets and Dunlop Bass Strings.[2]

Evile released a statement on Oct 5th at 3.30pm through the band's label Earache, which paid tribute to Mike and announced his death to the larger metal community worldwide.[2]

Influences

Mike stated his favourite bassists to be Jason Newsted and Sean Yseult.
