Slide Mountain is the actual name of the mountain on which the resort of Mt. Rose Ski Tahoe is located, commonly refereed to as Mt. Rose, which is incorrect. Mt. Rose is actually located across State Route 431 just a few miles away from Slide Mountain. At 9700 feet, Slide Mountain is one of the highest peaks in Washoe County, and from the top one can easily see Lake Tahoe, Washoe Lake, Carson Valley, and the city of Reno.
