Ben Crazy is a novelty single by Dickie Goodman released in 1962.

The record is a parody of the medical drama TV series Ben Casey. The single did slightly better than Santa & The Touchables, reaching #44 that year.

The B-side, "Flip Side", is the same track as "Crazy" on the Buchanan and Goodman On Trial single.

Release

The single was distributed on both Diamond and JMD Records. The JMD version is actually very slightly different than the Diamond re-issue. On the Diamond version, when the Dr. is cutting into a patient, you hear someone scream, on the JMD version, it sounds more like an entire audience of voices screaming.

Goodman's Spencer & Spencer partner, Micky Shorr, did a Ben Casey break-in called, "Dr. Ben Basey", as, Micky Shorr & The Cut-Ups (Tuba 8001 -- 4/6/62) at the exact same time. Rumor has it that Dickie actually WAS one of the Cut-Ups.
