Appearance
The Hosgri Fault zone is located near the coast of Southern California which is completely offshore. It is a reverse and thrust fault. Its last major earthquake occured in 1927 with a magnitude of 7.3. [1]
As shown on the map at left, the predicted probability of a major earthquake on this fault within the next 30 years is relatively low, only 3%.
