Straight No Chaser is the forthcoming debut solo album from British singer Mr Hudson, a follow up to the last album he recorded with his backing band, named Mr Hudson & The Library. It is set to be released on October 19, 2009. Borrowing the beat from Jay-Z's Young Forever, in which Mr Hudson was featured, it will include a cover of the song Forever Young.[4]

Background

In an interview, Mr Hudson was asked to describe the album: "My mission statement was to make a pop record, but not a throwaway pop record. My heroes are people like Bowie and Prince and Damon Albarn. I didn't want to do anything niche. Kanye threw down the gauntlet. He said, 'Let's see if we can make you a popstar'. I was like 'Let's have a go!'. It's a bit more widescreen, a bit more punchy, but the eclecticism of the first record's still there. There's a tune where I'm a cross between Deliverance and Sade".[5]

Singles

  • White Lies has been announced as the third single from the album. The video was released on September 24, 2009, and has already gained popularity.[6]
