Biography

Motosport career

Quick competed in the 2003 Dakar Rally, but crashed heavily in the desert, leaving her temporarily blinded and unable to walk. She was spotted by a media helicopter who transported her to a makeshift hospital. Quick was flown to Cairo where she underwent life-saving surgery to remove her spleen. Returning to compete again in 2004, Quick was one of only two women to enter into the Dakar Rally. However, on the ninth day of the event, she failed to make her start time due treacherous weather conditions and retired. In 2005, her motorcycle suffered a mechanical failure, resulting in another early retirement. In 2006, she became the first British woman to complete the Dakar Rally. After the cancellation of the 2008 Dakar Rally, she is currently in preparation for the 2009 rally which will take place in South America.
