Richmond International Midget Hockey Tournament

The Richmond International Midget Hockey Tournament is a renowned ice hockey tournament held annually for midget aged players in Richmond, British Columbia, Canada.
- First tournament held back in 1980 as a AA tournament. The tournament now has three divisions Elite AAA started in 2004, AAA division started 1992 and the AA/B division.
The tournament features 60 teams 164 games and more than eleven hundred participants aged 15 – 18 from across Canada, the United States and Europe.
- In 2008 the two local teams from Richmond BC, Richmond Minor and Seafair Minor hockey, played each other in a memorable Midget AAA Division Championship Final the first between the two Richmond associations. Played before a sold out crowd of more than 1600 fans at the Minoru Arena. The Seafair Islanders won the Championship 5-2.
The Tournament is held at the two Richmond arenas under the auspices of Richmond Minor Hockey Association and is sanctioned by Hockey Canada. The tournament gets underway every year starting on Boxing Day, and concludes on December 31, with the Elite Division and AAA Division Championship games being played at Minoru Arena. The tournament does not charge a gate fee; all games are free to attend.
Format
- Elite “AAA” Division Format
Top 4 teams from Each Pool proceed to playoff format. (1 vs 4 and 2 vs. 3 from opposite pool) 5th, 6th & 7th place teams in their pools will play a Consolation game from the other pool.
- “AAA” Division Format
Top 2 teams from Each Pool proceed to playoff format (1 vs 2 and 2 vs 1 from opposite pool)
- “AA/B” Division – Quarter-Finals
Gold Flight
- 1st and 2nd place teams in each division will advance to a Quarter final in the Gold Flight.
- Winning teams from the Quarter finals advance into a Semi-Final
- Winning teams from the Semi-final advance into the Gold Final.
Silver Flight
- 3rd and 4th place teams in each division will advance to a quarter final in the Silver Flight
- Winning teams from the Quarter finals advance into a Semi-Final
- Winning teams from the Semi-Final advance into the Silver Final
