Orašac is a village in southern Croatia, northwest of Dubrovnik, between Trsteno and Zaton. It's located in the Dubrovačko primorje. This village is founded around 1040 NC. In the centre of the town the houses are build close to each other because. A long time ago this gave better protection to the Neretva pirates.

Also you can find plenty of old churches (such as the St Nicholas church build in 1250) and chapels, including the Arapovo castle, where the chief magistrate of Florence, the gonfalonier Piero Soderini, is believed to have stayed when he left Florence in 1512.

Six pitoresk villages are scattered in the surrounding area. A main road in Orašac will lead u inland, to villages like Gromača, Ljubač and others, which are located in the hills. Gromača is known for it's beatiful cave and traditional ecological tourism Ljubač is located in a valley between three hills, which form an astonishing natural amphitheatre. In these villages there are farmers who produce homemade goatcheese, wine, ... The roads of these villages will lead you for 25 km through the inland untill you end up all the way in Slano.

During the homeland war (1991 - 1995) the big hotel complex (vrti sunce) was destroyed
