History

The origins of Nabarro go back to just after the Second World War. By 1958 the principals Leslie Nathanson, Felix Nabarro and his brother Alan Nabarro had merged their firms to form an eight partner, 60 employee firm dealing with property, litigation, company commercial and family law work under the name Nabarro Nathanson.

Various mergers and office moves in the West End of London culminated in a move in November 1999 to Holborn near the Inns of Court in central London.

In February 2007 the firm changed its name from Nabarro Nathanson to Nabarro and launched its new brand with an associated strapline Clarity Matters. In March 2008, Nabarro converted to a limited liability partnership.

In July 2009, Nabarro was named as one of sixteen preferred advisers to Banco Santander,[4] following a recent shake-up of the company's external advisers.

Nabarro is in the List of largest UK law firms in the Top 100 UK Law firms.

Recruitment

Nabarro is an equal opportunities employer and has strong links with lesbian, gay and bisexual charity Stonewall, the employer's forum on age, the employer's forum on disability and The Social Mobility Network. Annual staff turnover is low at 14.5% (year ending 30 April 2009) and in 2008 the firm was awarded 'one to watch' in The Sunday Times’ Best Companies to Work For survey.

Graduate recruitment

Nabarro recruits approximately 35 trainees annually across their London and Sheffield offices.

Trainees are primarily recruited through the firm's vacation scheme which is run three times over the summer months and lasts for three weeks at a time. Applicants must apply online and attend an assessment day which includes an interview, group and written test and networking session. For the past three years the firm has been awarded 'Best Vacation Scheme' at the Targetjobs National Graduate Recruitment Awards.

Successful trainees are offered a four month seat rotation system, which gives them exposure to the firm's core practice areas: corporate, finance, real estate and litigation and allows them to complete seats in more specialist seats e.g. IP, tax, pensions, employment or projects. In 2008 the firm was awarded 'Best Recruiter – large City Firm' by Lawcareers.net.
