the one hundred years of humiliation is 百年国耻 which is the 100 years of injustice faced by people of china. it is very importent to chinese people, because the history has many injustices for example the opium wars, the unequal treates of world war 1 and the war against japanese in world war 2. it began in 1840s during the opium wars and only ended with creation of peoples republic in 1949. some think the century is not ended as taiwan is not part of prc. and prc wants taiwan to join with it like hong kong joined prc in 1997 from british rule. the one hundred years is importent to communist party, they want people to remember it. this is because it is very importent to chinas history and reminds chinese to love china and fight western humiliation of china. tibet is an example of the way in which the chinese rememember the century, they think that the western counrtries are trying to teach it how to treat its people. 百年国耻 is also remembererd with japanese, for example when the japanese prime minster visited yasukuni shrine to honour japanese who had killed chinese in world war 2 and chinese were unhappy. i am sorry this is not complete and my english is not good. 莲乸 (talk) 15:42, 11 November 2009 (UTC)
