Evermore is a fantasy novel by Alyson Noel released in 2009. It is the first novel in the Immortals series.[1] Evermore was an immediate bestseller and, as of August 11, 2009, had spent 25 weeks on the New York Times Bestsellers list for children's books.[2]
Plot
Once popular but now a freak, Ever lives her weird and scary life indifferently everyday. But when she meets a drop-dead gorgeous Damen, she falls in love with him like almost every other infatuated teenage female in school, but not for the same reasons. Psychic Ever can't read Damen's thoughts, can't know his life on touch and can't even see his aura like she can of every other living being on earth. Even though this is the first time Ever is met with someone like this, she feels like she's met him before...
Characters
Ever: Sixteen year old, Ever, was a cheerleader, extremely popular and known for pretty blonde hair and good looks. But that was before an accident claimed the lives of her parents, sister and dog - but left her with a scar on her forehead and psychic powers. She can look at the color of people's auras, read their thoughts and know their life at touch, and loves to talk to her dead sister's ghost. Now, a freak, Ever is ignored and doesn't mind, but when she meets a drop-dead gorgeous guy named Damen, thing's begin to change. There is more to Damen then it appears, or doesn't appear, for Ever cannot read his thoughts, see his aura or know his life. This leaves Ever shocked, because the only people whose auras she cannot see, or lives she cannot read....are already dead....
Damen: Damen is an Immortal, the first one to ever exist. His father made the elixir and told him the recipe. He fell in love with Ever when he first meet her, after he and his wife separated. Life after life, Ever's reincarnations were killed in "accidents". He always began to lose hope before Ever appeared in his life again. Damen is the only Immortal with access to Summerland, a place where dead souls that did not cross over stay.
Riley: Riley is Ever's little sister, who died when their father swerved to miss hitting a deer, but hit a tree instead. She visited Ever everyday and when she wasn't with Ever, she spied on Ever's old friends and the celebrities. Ever convinced Riley to go into Damen's house and tell her what's there. There was a locked door that Riley didn't want to go though, even though she didn't care for locked doors before. After the Halloween party their aunt, Sabine, threw, Riley began wearing costumes everyday. The party pysic, Ava, finally convinced Riley to cross over and she promised to give Riley a sign to let her big sister know she was safe when she crossed over.
