Herbert Wolff (b. 1928) -- author whose current works include a textbook/guide on business presentation skills, a novel/screenplay, stage plays, motion picture story treatments, memoirs, a libretto for an opera, and much more. In addition to numerous magazine articles, Wolff is co-author of Small Studio Video Tape Production, Quick and Wolff (Addison-Wesley, 1976); and The Very Best Ice Cream and Where to Find It, Robbins and Wolff (Warner Books, 1985). He and his wife, Carol Robbins, are owners of Very Best Publishers, Chapel Hill, North Carolina.

Wolff's professional career began in 1956 as Director of Presentations at Glenn L. Martin Company (now Lockheed/Martin), where he was responsible for preparation and coaching of briefings to government and military officials on the status of the Titan ICBM program. He later formed his own consulting firm, specializing in developing and coaching presentations for companies involved in aerospace work. In addition, for three years under contract with the General Services Administration, he conducted workshops for senior federal employees and military personnel on how to write reports and deliver briefings.

In 1966, Wolff moved to New York City to head a division of Interpublic Group of Companies, which designed and produced sales materials for presentations delivered by Interpublic subsidiaries. Clients included Coca-Cola, General Motors and Standard Oil. From 1970-78, Wolff headed Corporate Communications at New England Life Insurance Company (now MetLife) in Boston. He was responsible for management publications, graphic design, and audiovisual production.

After 20+ years in executive positions with major corporations, Wolff again formed his own consulting company. Clients included Institute for Operations Research and Management Sciences (INFORMS), Electrical/Electronic Industries Conference (EEIC), the United States Department of Justice, the United States Agency for International Development, the United Nations Development Program, and numerous U.S. industrial and scientific companies. He has designed audiovisual facilities and instructed personnel worldwide.

Wolf is former Vice President of International Television Association; former Accredited Member Public Relations Society of America; and former Chairman of the Massachusetts Advisory Council on Vocational/Technical Education. He holds a B.A. from the University of Denver, where he taught undergraduate courses in business writing and business presentations. He also holds an MS from Boston University, where he taught undergraduate courses in audiovisual presentations and video production at the School of Public Communication.

Wolff now resides in North Carolina. He and his wife spend their summers in the Berkshires in Western Massachusetts, where Wolff is an on-air reviewer of summer theatre productions for WAMC, Northeast Public Radio.
