Mike Zamora was born on August 19, 1980 the sixth child of Hector and Eva Zamora, in Laredo, TX. He is a twin to Laura Zamora and was born six mintues after his twin sister. Zamora lived on their 3,000 acre ranch (The Samuel Zamora Ranch) near the South Texas city of Encinal until he was five years old. Moving to Mineral Wells in Palo Pinto County at age five, Mike attended public school at Mineral Wells ISD.

In his youth, Zamora was known as a trouble maker and was a mischievous student. Zamora worked several jobs as a laborer, and for Winn Dixie for three years. Zamora graduated high school from Mineral Wells High School in May 1998 and immediately started college at Weatherford College in Weatherford, TX majoring in Accounting.

While at Weatherford, Zamora was known as a "partier" and he enjoyed spending time with friends. He took a break from Weatherford College to attend Northwood University in Cedar Hill, TX for a semester, later returning to Weatherford. Zamora worked at Rodriguez and Son Mexican Restaurant in Mineral Wells with his friend Chris Cooper.

In May 2000, Mike moved to Bryan, TX with two of his close friends, Chris Cooper and Matt White. He worked several Bar and Wait Staff jobs in Bryan and College Station while he attended Blinn College. Some the jobs included the Captain, the Dixie Chicken, the Crooked Path, the Reef, and El Chico.

Zamora took a break in 2004, to work as an Electrical Laborer in Weatherford, TX at Ocean Electric. During this time Zamora slowed down his drinking and became more focused on his school work.

Zamora returned to Bryan/College Station and did not work in another bar or restaurant again. He found work as a porter, washing cars, at a local dealership called Garlyn Shelton Imports. This is where he met his wife Lauren Wiesner. While working as a porter, Zamora transferred to Sam Houston State University where he majored in Construction Management and received his BS in Industrial Technology/Construction Management.

Zamora is the youngest of Hector and Eva Zamora's six children. His older siblings are Cordelia (Cordy)Taylor, Hector Zamora, Jr., Maria Yvette Vaughan, Angelica (Angie) Cecilia Zamora, and his twin sister Laura Zamora. Zamora married Lauren Kay Wiesner on September 06, 2007 in Las Vegas, NV. The marriage didn't last as the following Summer Lauren filed for a divorce. The divorce was finalized on October 1, 2008. On June 20, 2009 Mike remarried Lauren in South Lake Tahoe, CA. They moved to Anchorage, AK in August 2009.

Career

Zamora began a short lived career as an engineer with the The Whiting-Turner Contracting Company. He struggle to stay focused with Whiting-Turner but felt like the company was the best he had worked for. He worked on several projects for owners such as, Bank of America, AEGON USA, and Petsmart. In 2009 he resigned from WT and moved to Anchorage, AK with his wife.

After arriving in Anchorage, Zamora began searching for a job. He had difficulty as the country was still in a recession and his background in Construction did him no good as Contractors in Anchorage stopped hiring in June due the short construction season in Alaska. He was hired by Charter College in September 2009 as an Adjunct Instructor and was quickly bumped up to Full-Time status. After less than two months on the job, Zamora was again promoted to Construction Management Department Chair. He immediately began work on the Construction Management Curriculum at Charter College.

In late 2008, Zamora received what he described as "a calling" to become a Navy Chaplain. Zamora is currently applying for the Navy's CCPO (Chaplain Candidate Program Officer) Program and hopes to be selected to train with the US Navy in the Summer of 2011. Mike is currently working on his Master of Divinity and Master of Business Administration at Liberty University in Lynchburg, VA.

Political Aspirations

Mike Zamora has always had an interest in politics and is considering a bid as a US Senator from The State of Alaska in 2015.

Religious Beliefs

Zamora was raised Roman Catholic and attended Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Mineral Wells, TX most his life. He served as an alter boy and was well versed in the Bible. However, Zamora felt like he never had a relationship with Jesus Christ and was bothered by that fact. In Bryan/College Station he met Lauren Wiesner who was bold in her faith. She asked him the question "Would you know, if you died right now?" This forced Zamora to pray about his relationship and salvation. Zamora was saved in 2006 at Faith Family Church in Huntsville, TX. When Zamora graduated from College he moved to Grapevine, TX and began attending Gateway Church in Southlake, TX where he strengthen his relationship with the Lord. On September 21, 2008, Zamora was baptized by water at Gateway Church.

Zamora characterized his new faith as "Bapticostal." He is a non-denominational Christian whose beliefs are Bible based and have traits that resemble both Baptist and Pentecostal beliefs. Zamora was ordained by Trinity Ministries, Inc in Dallas, TX on March 25, 2009 and received ecclesiastical endorsement by The Chaplaincy of Full Gospel Churches in February 2009.

While attending Gateway Church, Zamora served as a volunteer with several ministries. He worked as a small group leader with G8, the Men's Ministry. Zamora also worked with the communion preparation team and the communion team at the North Richland Hills campus. Zamora spent Monday nights working with the Gateway Singles Ministry as a greeter and helped with signing in the children before the services. He also worked with Gateway Equipping teaching "Fresh Start", a class for new believers and Christians that are re-committing their lives to the Lord.

Personal Life

Zamora struggled with alcohol consumption while in College. He was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) in December 2003. Mike realized that he was going nowhere at the rate he was going and began to "straighten up his act." At one point Zamora was consuming an average of thirty drinks per night.

Mike Zamora went through a divorce that changed his outlook on life. During the divorce Mike re-committed his life to Jesus and began to impact his community. He served not only at Gateway Church, but also at Beautiful Feet Ministries in Fort Worth, TX. Zamora felt that the whole in his heart after the divorce could only be filled by God and the only joy he received was when he did what he felt God was calling him to do. This led him to start working with men going through divorce with G8.
