welcome, and biographical article issues

Hi, and welcome to Wikipedia! I saw you made some edits to the Richard Isay article, and am guessing from your username you have some link to the subject of the article (a regular Sherlock Holmes i am!). I'm sure someone will be along eventually to explain our conflict of Interest policy, but the more immediate areas needing attention are the Verifiability and Biography policies.

As you corrected basic facts in the article, you know that wrong claims get made about people. This is why we are not allowed to keep any unreferenced controversial information on biography articles - it is far too easy for poeple to insert falsehoods, and we have no easy way to determine fact from fiction. As a lot of the most interesting points in the Isay article could be seen as controversial, they all need sourcing. So, if you have access to any sources about the subject, such as interviews or reports in newspapers or online, it would be great if you could put links or info about them either in the article (under a title like "Sources") or simply on the talk page. This will allow other users to expand the article, and more importantly, be sure that we write is correct.

I hope you stick around to edit other article too. We always need experts (especially on controversial topics such as sexual orentiation or complex psychology topics) or enthuisatic amateurs on any other subject you are interested in. Try it, it's pretty addictive! (that's a good thing, right? ;-))YobMod 09:32, 5 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Please let me know which facts need to be sourced. Most, if not all information on the page can be found in my books. I can also supply newspaper and magazine articles as sources. I don't know how to edit a Wikipedia page properly, so I would appreciate some help with that. I didn't realize that it was inappropriate to edit my page but when I realized that my birth date was incorrect I thought I would fix it, as well as make a few other clarifications. Thank you. - Richard Isay (talk) 16:29, 18 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
