Chris Weber is a rock musician born in Los Angeles, California on October 16, 1966. He was a founding member of Hollywood Rose along with Axl Rose and Izzy Stradlin. In 1998, Weber co-founded the post-grunge band U.P.O.. They went on to record a successful debut album under Epic Records and an independent follow-up in 2004.

Career

Hollywood Rose

In 1983, Axl Rose, Izzy Stradlin, and Chris Weber formed Hollywood Rose. The group recorded some demos that would serve as a foundation to Rose and Stradlin's Guns N' Roses. Weber co-wrote the song "Anything Goes" (which appears on Guns N' Roses' debut album Appetite for Destruction) as well as "Reckless Life" and the classic rock inspired "Move to the City," which appeared on both G N' R Lies and Live ?!*@ Like a Suicide. In 1998, Weber sued Axl Rose claiming that he co-wrote two Guns N' Roses songs he was not credited for, "Shadow of Your Love" and "Back Off Bitch."[1]

U.P.O.

In the mid '90s, Weber met singer Shawn Albro at England's Reading Festival. They formed a new band named U.P.O. which released its debut album, No Pleasantries, under Epic in May 2000. With two hit radio singles to its name, the record sold over 100,000 copies and placed U.P.O. in the mainstream rock scene. The group went on hiatus in 2002 before releasing an independent follow-up, The Heavy, in March 2004. After an October concert later that year, however, Weber suffered a seizure before being rushed to a hospital. It was soon revealed that he had a meningioma brain tumor which had Weber successfully undergo surgery on November 17.
