Grantham, North Carolina

Grantham, North Carolina is a quaint and secluded unincorporated community in southwestern Wayne County, North Carolina. Located southwest of the county seat, Goldsboro, it is located on U.S. Highway 13 between Goldsboro and Newton Grove to the south.

Community of Communities The rural and quiet community itself is a "community of communities" and is very tight-knit and close. Grantham itself is an individual township in Wayne County, but many are not aware that there are many different areas in the community. They include "Downtown Grantham," located at the intersection of US 13 South and Grantham School/Falling Creek Church Roads. There sits the Grantham Supply, which is a store that has food, groceries, hardware supplies among other things. Also at the intersection is Grantham School which originates back to 1840 and is a K-8 school that feeds into Southern Wayne High School in Dudley. The fire department, rescue squad building, bank, baseball/softball feilds and Grantham Pool are also in this area. Corbett Hill, Dobbersville, Jordan's Chapel, Steven's Mill and other small parts are all considered a part of Grantham. Most people in this farming community know everyone and or is related in one way or another. The many churches in the community offer benefits for those in the area that have become sick or are unable to pay bills due to misfortune.

Churches Churches in the community are a beacon of light to all the families living in the area. They include, among others: -Falling Creek Baptist, Falling Creek Church Rd. -Falling Creek Methodist, Falling Creek Church Rd. -Selah Christian, Selah Church Rd. -Jordan's Chapel Baptist, US Highway 13 S. -Eureka Christian, Dobbersville Rd. -Grantham Church of God of Prophecy, US Highway 13 S. -Rhodes Friends, O'Berry Rd.

The churches offer hope and extend glory and praise to God. Church Harvest Sales and barbecues occur yearly. Vacation Bible Schools and youth events are a part of many of the young people's agendas. All are invited to attend!

Farming The Grantham community is known primarily for its agricultural interest. Livestock (hogs, chickens and cows), wheat, tobacco, soybeans and cotton are all very important economic engines for Grantham and Wayne County in general.

Proximity to Cities and Towns While Grantham is relatively rural, it is not in "the middle of nowhere." Goldsboro, the county's thriving seat, is just 15 minutes away by taking 13 North to 117 North or Steven's Mill Road, which changes into Ash Street in Downtown Goldsboro. Mount Olive is about 10-15 minutes to the east. By taking Grantham School Road to NC Highway 55 East to the town. Newton Grove is a smaller town to the south about 10 minutes straight down US 13, which leads to Fayettville. At the traffic circle there are many routes one can follow: Interstate 40 to Raleigh/Wilmington, NC Highway 50 to Benson/Faison, NC Highway 55 to Mount Olive/Dunn and US Highway 701 to Smithfield/Clinton
