High Point, Thomasville, and Denton Railroad

The High Point, Thomasville, and Denton Railroad(Reporting mark HPT&D)is a 20-mile short-line railroad jointly owned by CSX Transportation and Norfolk Southern Railway(NS). It is a subsidary of Winston-Salem Southbound Railway(WSS). Commodities carried by the railroad are grain, sand, gravel, stone, forest products, paper products, coal, coke, cement, clay fertilizer, aluminum, chemicals, iron, and steel.


Motive Power

At the present time, On most of the HPT&D Rails you see CSX or Norfolk Southern.

About the Photo: 201 was a 70 Ton built by General Electric in January, 1948, #29465. In October, 1968, it was purchased by and lettered for Superior Stone Co as 201. It never got to be lettered for the Rockton & Rion. In 1976 it became Birmingham Rail & Locomotive 139. They sold it to McWane Cast Iron Pipe Co. as 70 in February, 1976. It was scrapped in 1984.
