Dylan & the Awkward turtles is a One man American Pop Rock/ Alternative from Houston, TX that predominantly plays pop punk music. The Project was was formed in 2001 In New york as "Shock" with brothers Dylan Sutera (Vocals/Guitar/Programming)and Hunter Sutera(Drums/Bass). In 2002 Hunter decided to pursue a career in Web design and left the band. Dylan changed the name of the Band to Dylan & the Awkward Turtles in hopes of finding new members to complete his line-up. In 2004 Dylan decided to stop pursuing musicians to form his band but continued making music under Dylan & the Awkward Turtles (Keeping the plural as sarcasm due to the fact it is a one man project).


History

Formation and early years (2001–2003)

In 2001 Dylan and Hunter Sutera formed the garage band shock and started playing covers of Green Day, Blink-182, and Bowling For Soup Songs


Turtle Soup EP (2004)

Turtle Soup was the first studio release from Dylan Sutera and is extremely rare. There are only 25 copies all with unique hand drawn cover art and signed.


Personal changes and In The Day (2005-2007)

In 2005 family changes drove Dylan his mother and his brother out of New York State and the family began moving around to different states for 2 years. During this Time In The Day was recorded at different locations across the country. Very few material copies of the album still exist though is readily available through digital download and torrent sites.


The Royal Crush (2007–2008)

In late 2007 Dylan & the Awkward Turtles (still on the road) began writing an album called The Royal Crush In his travels Dylan met a rep. from a small company called DMP and they soon signed on the band to record their next album.

The royal Crush is Based on the traditional story of the princess and the frog but branched off to include songs that pulled the story into the realm of the modern day. It has a base story to it but has songs that have little or nothing to do with the story.
