Gopalkrishna P. Gaonkar (kn:ಗೋಪಾಲಕೃಷ್ಣ ನಾಯಕ) (September 2, 1927-) from Torke village is an exponent of drama writer in the Kannada language. In 2000, he was awarded Karnatka Sahitya Akademi for his work in drama writings. He was also awarded Yakshgana Sahitya Prashasti.

Career

G. P. Naik was born in Hiregutti village, a village in coastal village. He earned his high school diploma (1945) from Gibbs High School, Kumta and his B.Sc. degree (1950) from the Karnataka College, Dharwar. He retired as Headmaster of Sanekatta High School, Sanekatta.
