Samuel Zoll

Samuel Zoll is a Jewish American lawyer.

Sam is a laywer. He used to be mayor of Salem. He served two terms.

He used to deliver newspapers. His parents were imigrants. In college, he mowed lawns, delivered newspapers and worked in a factory. Zoll used to be a high school teacher before being a lawyer.[1]

After being mayor , he became a judge. Later he became Chief Justice.[citation needed]

His wife is Marjorie.[4]

Scott Brown has stated that at the age twelve was brought before Judge Samuel Zoll in Salem, Massachusetts for shoplifting record albums. Zoll asked Brown if his siblings would like seeing him play basketball in jail, and[5] required him to write a 1500 word essay on the topic as his punishment.[6] Brown said, "That was the last time I ever stole, the last time I ever thought [about stealing... The other day I was at Staples, and something was in my cart that I didn’t pay for. I had to bring it back because.... I thought of Judge Zoll."[5])[5]]][6][7]

In 2009, he was the keynote speaker for the 100th anniversary forf the Congregation Sons of Israel.[8]

Zoll once required a family to eat dinner together for 30 days and sent a parole office to make sure they were doing it.[9]

Zoll has a law library named after him.[10]

In 1980, Zoll was the keynote speaker for the Ford Hall Forums.

He ran for mayor in 1969.[11]

Zoll is now chair of the Joint Labor-Management Committee having been appointed by the governor. The Joint Labor-Management Committee looks over collective bargaining negotiations between municipal police officers and fire fighters and municipalities in MA.
