Early life and influences

[edit]

Born in Taiwan, Bob Lee was raised in Michigan and then in New York state. His early influences were Isaac Asimov, Ray Bradbury, Arthur C. Clarke, Robert Heinlein, and Andre Norton.

This led to a precocious interest in computers with his first paid programming assignments beginning at age (12) for Xerox Corporation.

He then attended high school at The Harley School, Rochester, NY, and college at Princeton University, where he developed a deep interest in motion pictures by running the student film programs.
