The category "Destroyed Landmarks" features some reconstructed buildings, but is a true misnomer with regard to the "resurrected" ones. Robert Schediwy 86.32.215.9 (talk) 05:08, 8 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Reconstruction or replica?

As I understand it, a reconstruction in architecture (as in shipbuilding) is the creation of the original plans from archaeological evidence. A newly constructed building is a replica. -- Petri Krohn (talk) 02:25, 11 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure about that but it may be so. Archaeology isn't my field. I do know that "reconstruction" is used in the sense of rebuilding damaged or destroyed buildings, up to the most extreme form which would be a completely new building built to the original plans (a replica). If the archaeological term can be sourced, I see no reason why it could not also be included in the article.--Yeti Hunter (talk) 13:42, 15 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Category:"Rebuilt buildings and structures"

There is now also the above category, but it mixes true reconstruction with edifices simply "rebuilt" in a different way. Robert Schediwy --86.33.64.63 (talk) 09:53, 6 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
