The 2010 team was composed of much younger talent than in previous years such as Dustin Brown, Ryan Callahan, Patrick Kane, Phil Kessel, Mike Komisarek, Ryan Miller, Zach Parise, and Bobby Ryan. The U.S. team upset team Canada 5-3 in the round-robin phase of the tournament and went into the single elimination phase of the tournament as the number one seed. After beating Finland 6-0 the U.S. advanced to the Gold Medal game where they lost in overtime 3-2 to Canada to claim the Silver Medal. According to Nielson the Gold Medal game between Canada and the U.S. received an estimated 17.6% of U.S. households. A rating that was up 44-percent from the U.S./Canada Gold Medal game at the 2002 Salt Lake City Winter Games[1]. Many hockey analysts and some economists are predicting that this sudden spike of interest in hockey in the United States will carry over to the NHL at least for a brief amount of time [2].
