Shane Dawson is a Youtube comedian and actor. Shane is known for making comedy videos featuring himself in many of the roles. His channel ShaneDawsonTV on Youtube is the fourth most subscribed channel of all time [1], with over 1.3 million subscribers. [2] ShaneDawsonTV also has over 200 million video views. [3]

Shane also has a second YouTube channel, ShaneDawsonTV2, which is the ninth most subscribed YouTube channel of all time. Dawson has gained Youtube partnership. He has violated YouTube terms of use several times in his videos, has had several of his videos removed but still has not had his account suspended.[4] He used to work at Jenny Craig (which he refers to as Shmenny Shmraig in fear of law suit ) but got fired due to a video he posted.[5] [6]

History

Born Shane Yaw on July 19th, 1988, Shane has experienced many bad things leading to insecurities which have now gone away because of his emotional and psychological strength. His father left him as a child and he was raised by his mother.[7] He was obese as a child and teen, but was able to lose over one hundred pounds (US) (forty-five kilograms). He lost this weight too quickly, leading to some organ malfunction and health damage, but he went through a surgery to fix it and now he lives a healthy life. Yaw (at the time) tried to get into an acting career in 2007 and 2008, but was unsuccessful (casting directors were not casting him, guessing he is Asian due to his name). In 2008, Shane changed his name to Shane Dawson, because he loved the show Dawson's Creek. In early 2009, Dawson's videos became viral. He is called a YouTube sensation. [who?]

Videos/Channels

Shane posts new videos on his ShaneDawsonTV channel every Saturday, and posts random Vlogs (Video Blogs) on his ShaneDawsonTV2 channel. His newest production he is working at are the "Degrassi"- series.

  • Shane: an innocent, normal, 21 year-old boy.
  • Shananay: a white ghetto girl, also a criminal and a slut.
  • Shane's mom: an unsupportive mother, who also did -something- with the Jonas Brothers.
  • Ned: a sex-hungry nerd.
  • S-deezy: a hardcore gangster-like criminal.
  • Aunt Hilda: Shane's aunt, who is supposedly crazy and perverted (but not slutty).

Reception

Forbes magazine list him as one of the top 25 web celebrities [8] where he was called a Youtube idol [9].
