An editorial is a written document that is mainly the author's opinion about the subject. Editorials are featured in many newspapers and magazines, usually written by the senior editorial staff or publisher of the publication. Additionally, most print publications feature an editorial, or letter followed by a Letters to the Editor section. Major newpapers, such as the New York Times[1] and the Boston Globe[2] consider an "editorial" to be "opinion".

Editorials may also be in the form of editorial cartoons.[3]

Typically, a newspaper's editorial board evaluates what issues on which their readership is interested in hearing the newspaper's opinion.[4]
