Jona Weinhofen

Jona Weinhofen (Sometimes spelt Jona Weinhoffen) is an Australian meat head musician born on January 1, 1983. He is the current rhythm guitarist for Bring Me the Horizon and former guitarist for I Killed the Prom Queen and Bleeding Through. He was also the manager of Geelong Death Metal outfit The Red Shore. He also says that Grindcore outfit NowWeDo are awesome.

Musical history

I Killed the Prom Queen

Jona Weinhofen was the guitarist and clean vocalist for the Adelaide metalcore band, I Killed the Prom Queen from their formation in 2000 until their disbandment in 2007. He founded the band alongside drummer JJ Peters and played on all of their releases.[citation needed] Jona somewhat became known for his noticeable stage presence and talent, also for his antic's such as jumping into the pit whilst still playing, or climbing among various objects . They released two LP, one EP, a split EP, a demo and a live CD/DVD. They briefly reunited in 2008 for a final tour entitled the "Say Goodbye" Tour. He was their manager from 2004-2007. There is constant talk of their return; they all have their own projects so the reunion status is unknown, they've all commented saying it's possible and likely, but not happening any time soon.[citation needed]

Bleeding Through

After the departure of vocalist Ed Butcher from I Killed The Prom Queen, Weinhofen was invited to join Orange County band Bleeding Through after the departure of Scott Danough and played on their release Declaration and can be seen in their videos for Death Anxiety and Germany. He left mid way through 2009 partly due to homesickness and discontent with living in America.

Bring Me the Horizon

After Curtis Ward left British band Bring Me the Horizon in March 2009, they were left without a rhythm guitarist so in March 2009, Jona was invited to join as touring guitarist. In July 2009, it was confirmed he was a permanent member and according to vocalist, Oliver Sykes, in an interview on the subject.

In an interview with Kerrang! Magazine, it has been revealed that Bring Me the Horizon will begin writing the follow-up to Suicide Season during the summer of 2009, with the plan to go into Studio Fredman with producer Fredrik Nordström (who produced Suicide Season) in March 2010, hopefully resulting in an album release in summer 2010. This will be his first studio release since being with the band.
