Varkala Railway Station is served by the Southern Railways.It is onThiruvananthapuram-Kollam railway line.Varkala is the second most important railhead in the district of Thiruvananthapuram, after the Thiruvananthapuram Central Station.

Nearby attractions include Varkala Beach, Nature Care Centre and 2000-year-old Janardhana Swamy Temple. Just 3 km from the railway station is Taj Garden Retreat, a 4 star hotel providing lodging facilities. In cose proximity to the station is Varkala Bus Station. Trivandrum International Airport is the nearest airport (58 km.)

The nearest major station is Kollam Junction Railway Station, to the north of Varkala. Traveling south, the major railhead is at Thiruvananthapuram. [1]
