''''Grafik Magazine''''[[1]]

Grafik is a specialist London-based monthly magazine on graphic design and visual culture. The role of publisher and editor-in-chief was taken over by Caroline Roberts in 2009, and the editor is Angharad Lewis. It is published 12 times a year by Adventures in Publishing Ltd.

'HISTORY'

Grafik is in its twenty-third year as an independently published magazine. It started life as Hot Graphics International in the mid 80s during the ‘digital revolution’. With help from Meta and a new editor Tim Rich, the magazine was transformed into a monthly magazine Graphics International. In 2001 Caroline Roberts took over the role of editor and in July 2003 the magazine underwent a radical transformation of re-branding and re-designing by London-based graphic design agency MadeThought. The magazine was now called Grafik.

'ABOUT GRAFIK'

The magazine focuses on contemporary graphic design and offers a fresh look at the industry. Regular features include reviews of notable design events and exhibitions, showcases of new and established talent, critical viewpoints and special reports, often covering a piece of design history with a particular relevance for today. There are also now regular features on logoforms and letterforms, and copious book reviews of both graphic design books and those of a more general interest to the creative community. In recent issues of Grafik a new series of articles entitled ‘how to be green’, focuses on the growing trend in contemporary graphic design and linked industries to adopt a more sustainable working philosophy. Grafik is a premium magazine which prides itself on using exceptional fine paper and utilising very high end production in its manufacture, with particular attention to colour integrity, image definition, and typography. The magazine is printed on Arctic Volume 250gsm (cover) and 135gsm (text) from Howard Smith Paper. Aside from the small in-house team producing Grafik, a wide range of writers and designers from across the whole spectrum of the creative community contribute, and always operate on an exclusive basis only.
