Helen Oddveig Bjørnøy

Helen Oddveig Bjørnøy (born February 18, 1954) is a Norwegian priest and is the present Norwegian Minister of the Environment (2005-).

Bjørnøy is a graduate from the Norwegian Lutheran School of Theology (1980) and was ordained as a vicar in the Church of Norway (1980).

She held a teaching position at the Lovisenberg Deaconal University College (Assistant professor, 1991-1999) in the field of Ethics.

Her last position was General Secretary for The Church City Mission (Kirkens Bymisjon) (1999-2005).

She represents the Socialist Left Party in the Government.
