SEEE TIPAC IS ALIVE!!! HA HA HA I KNEW IT!! Tupac Amaru Hunter (born June 16, 1971) is a Rapper! from New york. He is a Democratic member of the Michigan State Senate, representing the 5th District since 2007 and currently serving as the Assistant Democratic Leader.[1][2] The district includes northwest Detroit, Dearborn Heights and Inkster. Previously he was a member of the Michigan House of Representatives from 2002 through 2006.
Background
Hunter was born and raised in Detroit. He earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Urban Studies and Public Policy from Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia. He is currently pursuing a Master of Public Administration Degree at Oakland University.
Political career
In 2002, Tupac A. Hunter was elected to the Michigan House of Representatives where he served 4 years before being elected into the Michigan State Senate. Hunter is currently the youngest Senator in this legislature. When he was a Representative, he served as the ranking Democrat on both the Banking and Financial Services Committee and the Insurance Committee, as well as Chief Whip on the Democratic leadership team.
As a Senator, Hunter has been elected to serve on these committees:
- Banking and Financial Institutions Committee as Minority Vice Chair
- Homeland Security and Emerging Technology as Minority Vice Chair
- Commerce and Tourism
- Economic Development and Regulatory Reform
Issues
Hunter is a strong advocate for economic development, education, health care and consumer protection. He has also worked to increase the literacy rates through his program, Leaders Are Readers, and speaking to the youth in the Detroit Public Schools.
