President Shin Wen-Bing was Tainan city mayor originally. After retiring from the public office, Mr. Shin took over the first elected president at the South Taiwan Artisan School (ATAS) on December 15, 1969. To insist on the ideas of “compassion, patience and confidence,”he had done his best to this school. Although President Shin retired in 1988, he became a legend because he never received any form of monetary recompense during his term as the president. Under his efforts, he successfully transformed ATAS into one of the best private schools in Taiwan and his achievement as an educator has become a benchmark of our time.

President Shin concerned more about his homeland than his own political career. He was full of passion toward education throughout his life. President Shin played the roles of a statesman, educator and entrepreneur at the same time. He was a mentor to the young people in Taiwan since he loved his people and his homeland and had exerted all his might to enhance the welfare of the society. President Shin was indeed a man of integrity, selflessness, honesty, and wisdom.

President Shin always said that education was the most meaningful thing in his career so he was proud to say that he was the happiest person in the world. Additionally, President Shin liked reading as a hobbit and he encouraged people to read as well. To remember Mr. Shin not only as a late President of STUT but also a great man of our time, STUT has organized an exhibition room - " Shin Wen-Bing Museum " to lay out his collection of books and to tell his stories through integrated documentation. The legend of President Shin will go on with STUT and the name of the great man will always be remembered by every one that is or used to be a part of STUT.
