Waterscape was set up in the summer of 2003 and is British Waterways[1] leisure website, supported by the Environment Agency and the Broads Authority[2] as an official information and leisure resource for inland waterways within the UK.

Waterscape is an information resource and leisure guide for all of the canals, rivers and waterways[3] throughout England[4], Scotland[5] and Wales[6] with references to boating, fishing, holidays[7], walking[8], cycling[9], volunteering, pubs and restaurants[10].

Waterscape also provides information and advice on:

  • How to hire a boat or cottage along the canals and rivers
  • Local area information including visitor attractions, history and the local wildlife[11]
  • Boat Licensing and Fishing Licensing[12]
  • Canal curising rings
  • Cycle and Walking Routes[13]
  • Public fishing areas

As part of a marketing campaign in 2008, Waterscape launched the viral game The Crazy Duck[14] in December. The game was set up to teach people about the facts and history of the waterways within the UK.
